At least 12 construction workers were killed and four others remain missing following the collapse of an under-construction railway bridge over the Yellow River in Qinghai province, China. The incident occurred during a tensioning operation when a steel cable snapped on the Jianzha Yellow River Bridge, part of the Sichuan–Qinghai Railway project. Sixteen workers were reportedly on the bridge at the time of the accident. The Qinghai provincial government has established an investigation team, and China Railway Group has expressed condolences and pledged a thorough investigation into the cause of the collapse. The central government has also initiated a nationwide safety probe in response to the accident.
