
The U.S. Department of Justice has charged the owners of a China-based company with conspiracy to steal trade secrets from Tesla, a leading U.S.-based electric vehicle manufacturer. A Canadian resident of China, was arrested in the U.S. for allegedly stealing Tesla's trade secrets and attempting to sell them to undercover law enforcement officers. U.S. Federal prosecutors have identified two men, Mr. Pflugbeil and Mr. Shao, former employees of Hibar Systems, a Canadian company acquired by Tesla in 2019 for its battery manufacturing technology, as the accused. They allegedly started a business in China with the intention of selling stolen Tesla trade secrets.
