Chinese robotics company Unitree has showcased a new four-legged robot that can carry up to 250 kilograms—roughly the weight of three average adults—highlighting rapid advances in payload capacity for quadruped machines. On 27 August, Zhejiang University deployed a fleet of Unitree-built robots, both four-legged and wheeled, to act as “volunteers” on the first day of the academic year. The machines ferried incoming students’ luggage—about 20 kilograms per trip—directly to dormitories, climbing stairs and navigating campus pathways without human strain.
