Chinese government-backed hackers, known as Volt Typhoon, have been exploiting a zero-day vulnerability in Versa Networks' software to infiltrate U.S. internet service providers (ISPs). This campaign has allowed the hackers to access sensitive information by planting malware and harvesting credentials. The attacks have been ongoing for several months and have targeted both American and Indian internet companies. Lumen Technologies uncovered the attack, which has been described by security researchers as unusually aggressive and sophisticated, posing significant risks to the affected companies and their customers.
