Colombian Economy Grows 2.1% in Q2 2025; Grupo Aval Profits Up 96.7%, Grupo Sura Revenues Hit COP 14.7 Trillion

Colombia's economy showed mixed results in the second quarter of 2025. The Gross Domestic Product (GDP) expanded by 2.1% year-on-year, while the Indicador de Seguimiento a la Economía (ISE) recorded a 2.94% annual growth in June, reaching 122.50 points. Despite this growth, the economy missed nearly all second-quarter forecasts. Inflation remains outside the target range of 2% to 4%, continuing to decline compared to the previous year but still not meeting the country's needs. Key Colombian companies reported varied financial performances in the first half of 2025. Grupo Aval increased its loan portfolio and saw a 96.7% year-on-year rise in net profits, reaching COP 883.7 billion. Grupo Sura reported revenues of COP 14.7 trillion and a 33.5% increase in net profit attributable to shareholders, totaling COP 1.2 trillion. Procafecol's operational revenues grew by 17%, from COP 348.379 billion in the first half of 2024 to COP 406.278 billion in 2025. Colombina's sales, both domestic and international, rose by 10%, with total revenues of COP 1.65 trillion. Conversely, Acerías Paz del Río experienced a decline in revenues, reporting COP 697.049 billion compared to COP 774.756 billion in the same period of 2024. Grupo Éxito's president, Carlos Calleja, highlighted that the company's strategic changes have positively impacted operational results and sales outlook for the year.
