Miguel Uribe Londoño Named Centro Democrático Pre-Candidate for 2026 Colombian Presidential Elections Following Son’s Assassination

Miguel Uribe Londoño, father of the assassinated Colombian senator and presidential pre-candidate Miguel Uribe Turbay, has been confirmed as the new pre-candidate for the presidency representing the right-wing Centro Democrático party. This decision follows the death of his son, who was a leading figure in the party's campaign for the 2026 presidential elections. Uribe Londoño requested to participate in the electoral process to replace his late son. The party has positioned him as the opposition candidate moving forward. The transition was publicly acknowledged by prominent figures, including former President Álvaro Uribe, who paid tribute to the late senator at the site of the attack, calling for an eternal flame in his memory.
