Futu Holdings Ltd., the Hong Kong-based online brokerage that operates the Moomoo trading platform, reported second-quarter revenue of US$676.6 million, a 69.7 percent year-over-year increase, as active trading and client assets hit record levels. Net income more than doubled to roughly US$330 million, translating into earnings of US$0.29 a share, up from US$0.14 a year earlier. Gross profit jumped 82 percent to US$591.1 million. Client assets climbed 17 percent from the previous quarter to US$124 billion, buoyed by net inflows in Hong Kong and rapid user growth in Singapore. Total trading volume reached US$457 billion, with US equity turnover surging to US$343 billion. Cryptocurrency holdings on the platform expanded 43 percent quarter-on-quarter, and the company said it is accelerating the roll-out of crypto services across additional markets. Futu ended June with 27.12 million registered users, 5.24 million brokerage accounts and 2.88 million funded accounts. The stronger-than-expected results sent Futu’s shares up about 7 percent in early U.S. trading to US$168.52, extending their year-to-date gain to roughly 125 percent.
