Monster Beverage Corp. reported fiscal second-quarter revenue of $2.11 billion, an 11.1% increase from a year earlier and the first time the energy-drink maker’s quarterly sales have topped the $2 billion mark. The figure slightly exceeded analyst expectations of about $2.08 billion. Profitability also improved. Adjusted earnings per share rose 23% to $0.52, beating the $0.48 consensus estimate. Operating income grew nearly 20% to roughly $632 million, while gross margin expanded 210 basis points to 55.7%, driven by higher pricing and supply-chain efficiencies. Monster did not repurchase shares during the quarter, leaving $500 million available under its existing buyback authorization.
