Noodles & Company said in its second-quarter results released on Aug. 13 that it will shut 28 to 32 company-owned restaurants before the end of the year after a slight revenue drop and a wider quarterly loss. Revenue fell 0.7% from a year earlier to $126.4 million, while the net loss widened to $17.6 million from $13.6 million. The Broomfield, Colorado-based chain, which operates more than 400 locations, has already closed six restaurants this year and indicated another 12 to 17 closures are likely in 2026. Management blamed a “value-conscious climate” and slower-than-expected customer uptake of recent menu upgrades for the pullback. Chief Executive Officer Drew Madsen will step down, with Chief Operating Officer Joe Christina taking the helm. Madsen said Christina is “the right leader to guide this brand forward” as the company focuses on restoring traffic and profitability while continuing selective new openings.
