Warehouse-automation specialist Symbotic Inc. reported fiscal third-quarter revenue of $592 million, up 26% from a year earlier and ahead of analysts’ estimates. Adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization jumped to $45 million from $3 million a year ago, but the company remained in the red with a $32 million net loss. Cash and equivalents fell by $177 million to $778 million as Symbotic continued to invest in a next-generation storage system it says will reshape warehouse layouts. For the current quarter ending in September, the Wilmington, Massachusetts-based company forecast revenue of $590 million to $610 million and adjusted EBITDA of $45 million to $49 million. Despite the top-line beat and steady outlook, shares fell about 14% in late trading, suggesting investor concern over the deeper loss and cash burn. Audio-equipment maker Sonos Inc. also released fiscal third-quarter results, posting revenue of $344.8 million and a net loss of $3.4 million. On an adjusted basis, the company earned $22.6 million, or $0.19 a share, and generated $36 million in adjusted EBITDA. Sonos said quarterly revenue exceeded the high end of its prior guidance range, citing demand for its premium speakers and home-theater products.
