Artificial-intelligence lending platform Upstart Holdings posted second-quarter revenue of $257.3 million, comfortably ahead of the roughly $225 million analysts expected and more than doubling from a year earlier. The company reported GAAP net income of $5.6 million, or $0.05 a share, marking a return to profitability a quarter sooner than it had projected; adjusted earnings were $0.36 a share versus the $0.25 consensus. Upstart originated 372,599 loans and generated a 59 % contribution margin, while adjusted Ebitda reached $53.1 million. Management lifted full-year revenue guidance to about $1.055 billion and projected third-quarter sales of roughly $280 million, both ahead of Wall Street estimates, yet the stock fell roughly 11 % in late trading. Freelance-work marketplace Upwork also beat expectations, with revenue inching up 1 % year-on-year to $194.9 million against the $187.7 million consensus. Adjusted earnings came in at $0.35 a share, surpassing forecasts, and net income rose 47 % to $32.7 million. Upwork ended the quarter with 796,000 active clients and a 5 % increase in gross services volume per customer. The company forecast third-quarter revenue of $190 million to $195 million, again above analyst models, sending its shares about 17 % higher after hours. Marketing-software provider HubSpot rounded out the tech-platform earnings releases with second-quarter revenue of $760.9 million, exceeding expectations of $739.8 million. Adjusted Ebit was $129.1 million, for a 17 % margin, and adjusted net income reached $117.3 million. HubSpot guided both third-quarter and full-year revenue and earnings per share above consensus estimates, underscoring continued resilience in enterprise software demand even as smaller cloud names such as Upstart and Upwork posted mixed share-price reactions.
