South Africa secured a 2-0 victory in the second ODI against Australia, clinching the series with one match remaining and marking their fifth consecutive bilateral ODI series win over the hosts. Key performances included Dewald Breetzke's fourth consecutive fifty and Lungi Ngidi's five-wicket haul, which earned him the Player of the Match award. Ngidi has now taken both of his ODI five-fors against Australia. Despite South Africa's series win, Australia delivered a record-breaking performance in the third and final ODI in Mackay. Australian batsmen Travis Head, Mitchell Marsh, and Cameron Green each scored centuries, with Head making 142 runs off 103 balls, Marsh reaching 100 runs, and Green hitting an unbeaten 118 off 55 balls, the second-fastest ODI hundred for Australia. Their combined efforts propelled Australia to a total of 431/2, the highest ODI total on Australian soil. Cooper Connolly also made history by taking a five-wicket haul (5/22) at the age of 22 years and 2 days, becoming the youngest Australian to achieve this feat in ODIs and only the second Australian left-arm finger-spinner to record a five-for. Australia won the final match by 276 runs, their second-biggest ODI victory, but South Africa still took the ODI series 2-1. Overall, the series featured dominant performances from South Africa but ended with a strong comeback from Australia in the final game.
