The ALPHV/Blackcat Ransomware, known for its notorious activities, has recently been in the news for multiple reasons. Initially, it was reported that the admin/support for the ransomware was selling its source code for $5,000,000. Shortly afterward, there were reports that the new ALPHV BlackCat leak site had been seized by law enforcement. However, this was followed by clarifications that the seizure reports were part of an exit scam by the ransomware operators, as they were exit scamming their affiliates, indicated by the source code of the new takedown notice. This exit scam narrative was further complicated by the servers of the ALPHV/BlackCat Ransomware going down. Adding to the confusion, a ransomware site claimed it was seized, but UK law enforcement denied any involvement in such an action, with experts suggesting that the takedown notice and the subsequent denial by the UK agency might be part of an exit scam following an alleged payment from UnitedHealth.
