
The Arizona Auditor General has released a report detailing alleged financial misconduct by the former Santa Cruz County treasurer, Elizabeth Gutfahr. According to the report, over $39 million was allegedly embezzled by Gutfahr between 2014 and 2024. The report also highlighted that more than 120 treasurer reports contained falsehoods. Following the release of the report, Arizona Representative Gress has called for stricter oversight to prevent future financial violations. The Auditor General provided numerous recommendations to address the issues identified in the report.
