Police in Broomfield, Colorado, surrounded a hotel near the intersection of Wadsworth Parkway and U.S. 36 on Thursday after a man wanted on multiple felony charges barricaded himself inside a room and threw a knife that injured a responding officer, authorities said. A SWAT team was called to the scene and negotiators worked to secure the suspect’s surrender. The officer’s injuries were not described as life-threatening. The standoff followed an unrelated police pursuit earlier in the day in Adams County, where a suspect in a Brighton gas-station robbery allegedly fired at officers before being apprehended near Highway 85 and East 104th Avenue. No officers were injured in that incident, according to Brighton Police.
