A surge in impersonation and scam accounts has been reported across various social media platforms, particularly targeting cryptocurrency and financial communities. CoinMarketCap has warned users to be cautious of fake accounts and emphasized that they will never direct message users first. Multiple individuals, including btc_albert, BowTiedMara, and benln, have reported impersonators using slightly altered usernames to deceive followers. Zilliqa also alerted its community about phishing websites linked through fake accounts. Users are advised to verify the authenticity of accounts and report suspicious activities to platform administrators. CoinMarketCap also urged users to stay #SAFU and be aware of phishing websites. The hashtag #ScamAlert is being used to raise awareness.
Just a warning so you don’t get scammed because I’ve gotten tons of messages recently about multiple imposters like in pic below. This is my ONLY account (besides @digitalartchick). I have no other social media profile. I’ll never ask you to send money for anything. Be careful.🫡 https://t.co/UqIzWTyCAO
