Denver police shot and wounded a suspect on Monday morning after responding to a weapons-related call at the intersection of West Alameda Avenue and South Lipan Street, the department said. Chief Thomas told reporters that officers opened fire during the encounter, injuring the suspect, who was taken to hospital; the individual’s condition was not immediately known. No officers were hurt. Alameda Avenue was closed in both directions while investigators processed the scene.
