A former U.S. Army financial counselor and major in the US Army Reserves, Caz Craffy, has pleaded guilty to defrauding Gold Star families out of nearly $10 million in life insurance payments. The scheme targeted the families of deceased soldiers, including widows and a 13-year-old girl. Craffy, who could face decades in prison, admitted to pocketing more than $1 million for himself. The fraudulent activities were uncovered following an investigation by the Washington Post, leading to his charges.
