Former Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler was sentenced to four days in the Williamson County Jail after pleading guilty to a misdemeanor driving-under-the-influence charge in a Tennessee court on 26 Aug. The plea agreement led prosecutors to drop a separate weapon-possession count stemming from the same arrest. Cutler, 42, was arrested on 17 Oct 2024 in Franklin, about 30 miles south of Nashville, after his Dodge Ram rear-ended another vehicle. Police reports said he smelled of alcohol, had bloodshot eyes and refused field-sobriety tests. Investigators later found two firearms in the truck, one of them loaded. According to an arrest affidavit, Cutler initially tried to leave the scene and offered the other driver $2,000 not to call authorities. Under the deal, Cutler must pay a $350 fine, attend a DUI safety class, forfeit the handgun, and serve one year of supervised probation that includes random drug screening. His Tennessee driver’s license has been revoked for 12 months, and he is to begin the four-day jail term on 29 Sept.
