Prosecutors allege that between 2020 and 2021, Velazquez siphoned off at least $600,000 from narcotics funds and seized cash, including money from cocaine busts, which he attempted to launder through multiple bank accounts. Investigations reveal that Velazquez spent over $320,000 on luxury items such as Rolex, Versace, Cartier, and Louis Vuitton. His arrest comes four years after he was dismissed from his position amid a police scandal. Separately, a founder of a now-closed Orange County non-profit has been charged with wire fraud, bribery, and money laundering related to a scheme involving COVID-19 funds and bribery of an Orange County supervisor who directed $12 million in funds between 2020 and 2024.
