A former New York State Assembly candidate has been charged with wire fraud for submitting forged campaign contribution cards to fraudulently obtain thousands of dollars in public matching funds. The charges were announced by the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of New York (EDNY) in coordination with the FBI and the New York City Department of Investigation. The defendant allegedly violated campaign finance laws by falsifying documents from community members in an attempt to secure funds he was not entitled to receive. The New York City Campaign Finance Board has been called upon to investigate the violation.
