Grammy-winning rapper Lil Nas X, 26, pleaded not guilty on Monday to four felony counts after Los Angeles police said he assaulted officers who confronted him while he was walking naked along Ventura Boulevard in Studio City on Aug. 21. Prosecutors charged the artist, whose legal name is Montero Lamar Hill, with three counts of battery with injury on a peace officer and one count of resisting an executive officer. A criminal complaint alleges Hill charged at the officers, injuring three; a conviction could carry a sentence of up to five years in state prison. A Los Angeles Superior Court judge set bail at $75,000 and ordered Hill to attend drug-treatment sessions as a condition of release. He posted bail on Tuesday and was released from custody. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Sept. 15. In a video statement posted online after his release, Hill described the four days he spent in jail as “terrifying” but told supporters he is “going to be OK.” Hill rose to prominence with the 2019 hit “Old Town Road,” which spent a record 19 weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100 and earned two Grammy Awards. His 2021 album “Montero” reached No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and was nominated for album of the year.
