Los Angeles police are searching for a stolen-car suspect who eluded capture after a dramatic pursuit that was broadcast live by local television on 23 August. According to ABC7 Eyewitness News, the driver reached speeds above 100 miles an hour before pulling into a gas station, calmly refuelling and staring into a news helicopter’s camera. Officers resumed the chase once the vehicle returned to the road, but the suspect ultimately managed to slip away. Authorities have not released the individual’s identity and are reviewing video footage to aid the investigation. No injuries or collisions were reported during the incident.
