Federal authorities have charged Jasmine Williams, a Montgomery County woman, with defrauding FEMA out of $1.5 million by submitting fraudulent claims for Hurricane Ida disaster benefits. Williams advertised her services to assist individuals in applying for FEMA benefits but instead submitted false claims, keeping half of the money for herself. In a separate incident, a Georgetown woman was convicted of defrauding federal funds by submitting over $2 million in fake loan applications.
