Jeremy Lyle, an off-duty Sonoma County Sheriff's deputy, fatally shot Mari Bonnici, the mother of his three children and also an employee of the sheriff's agency, at her apartment over the weekend. Following the shooting, Lyle engaged in a six-hour standoff with police before taking his own life in the parking lot of the coroner's office in Santa Rosa, according to local authorities. Officers discovered Bonnici deceased on a couch in the living room of the apartment. The incident has been confirmed by Santa Rosa police and multiple news outlets.
