Massachusetts authorities have identified the man found dead in a car outside South Shore Hospital in Weymouth on Saturday as 27-year-old Declan Perry of Portland, Maine. Perry’s body was discovered around 2 p.m. in the rear seat of a black 2019 Honda Civic parked at the emergency-room entrance. Investigators said he had been wrapped in multiple blankets fastened with duct tape; video from the scene showed what appeared to be a bullet hole in the vehicle’s windshield. Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz, whose office assumed the case from Norfolk County on Monday, has classified the death as suspicious. Residents of a condominium complex on the Driftway in nearby Scituate told police they had seen a man loading a heavy blanket into the same Honda Civic earlier the day the body was found. A search warrant executed at that residence yielded unspecified evidence, and investigators have identified a person of interest who was known to the victim, though no arrests have been made. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of death. Police from Weymouth, Scituate and the Massachusetts State Police continue to investigate.
