Sam Bankman-Fried, commonly known as SBF, has been sentenced to 25 years in prison, a decision announced by Judge Kaplan stating, "the court that you are sentenced to 240 months then consecutive 60 [etc] for a total of 300 months [25 years]." This sentence comes after SBF faced a potential maximum of up to 100 years, with the prosecution seeking 40-50 years and probation recommending 105 years. Despite the hefty sentence, it is significantly less than the maximum and the amounts sought by both the prosecution and probation. SBF will be eligible for release by the age of 57, considering the full term of the sentence, effectively making it a 21-year sentence unless he gets into trouble.
