Thomas Allen McCartney, a serial child rapist in Louisiana, has pleaded guilty to the attempted rape of a seven-year-old girl and agreed to undergo both surgical and chemical castration as part of a plea deal. The case came to light after a mother caught McCartney sexually abusing her daughter in 2023. This sentencing marks a rare instance of castration being used as punishment in child sexual abuse cases in the United States. Separately, authorities have also taken action against other individuals involved in child exploitation, including a young man in Sydney charged with possessing extremist content and child abuse material, and a neonazi cybercriminal in France incarcerated for possession of child pornography and acts of cruelty.
