A Tonawanda woman pleaded guilty to wire fraud after embezzling over $440,395 from her Amherst-based employer, which she used for personal and family expenses, according to the United States Attorney’s Office. In Virginia, a Pennington Gap man was sentenced to 10 years of active incarceration for distributing fentanyl and possessing a firearm as a convicted felon. Additionally, a Lee County man received a similar sentence for distributing fentanyl in March 2023. In Massachusetts, a woman was sentenced to federal prison for selling fentanyl to a man who subsequently died of an overdose. Another woman from North Andover was sent to New Hampshire state prison after pleading guilty to stealing thousands from the elderly in an online support scam. Furthermore, an Arkansas woman pleaded guilty in New Hampshire federal court for stealing over $300,000 from elderly credit union customers. Lastly, a Westford woman is facing 12 years in prison for a multi-million dollar health care fraud scheme.
