This move allows users to claim a personalized subdomain for free, a feature highlighted as a step towards mainstream adoption of ENS subdomains for both individual users and organizations, with mentions of 'dao.eth' for DAOs or multisigs on Aragon. While Uniswap's initiative has been met with enthusiasm, it has also sparked discussions about its novelty, given that similar functionalities, including support for ERC-4337 (account abstraction) benefits, have been offered by Argent, a crypto wallet service, since 2018. Argent provides free ENS subdomain usernames along with additional features such as hardware wallet support and social recovery options.
