Francis Ford Coppola's film 'Megalopolis' received a standing ovation at its first screening in L.A., with Coppola visibly moved. Described as a highly visual fable, the film explores clashing visions of the future in a metropolis. The movie has a runtime of 2 hours & 13 minutes and cost $120 million to make. Jack Black was seen on set but won't star in the film. Coppola is not planning to premiere 'Megalopolis' at a film festival until a wide theatrical distribution plan is in place. Despite the need for widespread appeal to break even, Coppola, who financed the film by selling wine for 25 years, remains unfazed.
GXK will dominate IMAX next weekend too, adding 58 add'l screens in 9 markets, including France, Germany, Switzerland and Turkey.
Despite Francis Ford Coppola's absence from making movies, the reactions surrounding Megalopolis make exciting and worrying for the same reasons. https://t.co/WcKAJopaEY
