DeFi platforms Ambient Finance and EigenLayer have suffered security breaches affecting their websites and social media accounts. On October 17, Ambient Finance announced that its website domain had been hijacked and compromised, with the frontend attempting to phish for malicious permissions using a malicious JavaScript file. Users were urged to avoid visiting the site or clicking any links. The issue was isolated to the frontend website, with contracts remaining unaffected and user funds reported as safe. The following day, EigenLayer's official X (formerly Twitter) account was compromised, posting phishing links to malicious domains such as claimed-eigenfoundation.org and eligible-eigenfoundation.org, promoting fake airdrops. Users were cautioned not to click on any links or interact with the account until the matter was resolved. Security firms like PeckShield and SlowMist highlighted the incidents, noting a recent surge in similar attacks targeting DeFi platforms' social media and websites. The incidents underscore increasing cybersecurity threats within the cryptocurrency sector.
