A crypto trader fell victim to a sandwich attack while attempting to swap stablecoins, resulting in a significant loss. The trader initially swapped $733,000 for just $19,000 across six separate transactions, totaling a loss of $714,000. In another instance, $220,764 worth of USDC was swapped for just $5,271 in USDT within eight seconds, as an MEV bot front-ran the transaction. The attack occurred due to the trader allowing 100% slippage tolerance during the swap, which enabled the MEV bot to manipulate the transaction. This incident highlights the risks associated with high slippage settings in cryptocurrency trading. KyberSwap noted that their Automatic Suggested Slippage feature, set at 0.01%, would have prevented such a massive sandwich attack.
https://t.co/Urm5O1hVOd
This would have never happened while using KyberSwap. Thanks to our Automatic Suggested Slippage, the proposed slippage for this trade would have been set to 0.01%, preventing this massive sandwich attack. On top of that, we propose MEV Protection for free on Ethereum 🔐 https://t.co/wKQkzG0Kp2 https://t.co/o8x95PnX8z
