Flow blockchain is experiencing a surge in decentralized finance (DeFi) activity, particularly since the launch of Crescendo in September 2024. The platform's Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) equivalence, enhanced bridging capabilities, and new protocols have contributed to record high on-chain liquidity, achieving all-time highs in total value locked (TVL). Additionally, Layer3 has emerged as a significant player in on-chain economic activity, powering experiences for over 5 million users and positioning itself as a next-generation aggregator. Other platforms, such as Skate Chain and Base, are also innovating within the DeFi space. Skate Chain is introducing a unified global state across various virtual machines, supported by over $2 billion in EigenLayer's asset-backed securities (AVS). Meanwhile, Base is expanding its utility beyond DeFi, becoming a leading layer-2 solution for consumer applications, including restaurant loyalty programs and on-chain social media. Flow's EVM is now live, allowing users to bridge from more than 30 inbound chains, while Router Protocol's Nitro Cross-Chain Bridge has launched on FlowX Finance, enabling zero-fee transfers to Sui Network from over 40 chains.
