[COINDESK] Meta Pool, a Liquid Staking Protocol, Suffers $27M Exploit
Liquid-staking platform Meta Pool disclosed that an attacker exploited a vulnerability in one of its smart contracts on 17 June, illicitly minting 9,700 mpETH tokens with a notional value of about $27 million. Blockchain data indicate the perpetrator was able to exchange only roughly $25,000 of the newly created tokens on Uniswap because of limited market liquidity, leaving the bulk of the mpETH effectively frozen. Meta Pool said it is investigating the breach and working with security specialists to identify the vulnerability, while the incident adds to a growing list of decentralized-finance hacks in 2025.
