Vitalik Buterin- and StarkWare-backed Kakarot reveals alternative Ethereum ZK stack, targeting real-time STARK proofs on Layer 1 by end of 2025 | The Block https://t.co/0lpGAbttRU
Insane milestone reached by @KakarotZkEvm, first Ethereum L1 block proven with Kakarot and STWO. Congrats @ETazou @ClementWalter @eniwhere_ and the whole team. It's been an insane 2.5 years ride to reach this point. Looking forward to what's next. https://t.co/Yg13YqSZmh
🥕🥕🥕MISSION ACCOMPLISHED: Kakarot is the first alternative L1 prover. We've successfully implemented the Ethereum State Transition Function in Cairo, enabling a novel approach to generating proofs of Ethereum L1 blocks. Our journey from intuition to implementation is https://t.co/6i0tS2mwtP
Kakarot, a project backed by Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin and StarkWare, has unveiled an alternative zero-knowledge (ZK) stack for Ethereum. The team announced the successful implementation of the Ethereum State Transition Function in Cairo, enabling the generation of real-time STARK proofs on Ethereum Layer 1 blocks. This milestone marks Kakarot as the first alternative Layer 1 prover to achieve such a feat. The project aims to deliver real-time STARK proofs on Ethereum Layer 1 by the end of 2025. The development follows a 2.5-year effort by the Kakarot team, including contributors such as ETazou, Clement Walter, and Eniwhere. This advancement positions Kakarot alongside other ZK teams utilizing STARK technology, such as StarkWare, Polygon Zero, Miden, Hermez, Nexus, Valida, RiscZero, Succinct, and Pico, while distinguishing itself from projects like Zcash that do not use STARKs.
