A new lawsuit has been filed against the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which includes several former directors of the United States Institute of Peace (USIP), foreign personnel, and a donor. The plaintiffs claim that DOGE's takeover of the institute is illegal and poses a threat to the safety of diplomats abroad. Additionally, DOGE is reportedly seeking to assign members of its team to work at all institutes or agencies that receive federal funding. This includes the Legal Services Corporation, which provides funding to 130 legal aid groups. The Vera Institute of Justice received a request from DOGE staff on April 11 to discuss the potential assignment of a DOGE team to their organization.
