Apple reported its fastest revenue growth in more than three years as consumers stocked up on iPhones ahead of anticipated U.S. tariff-driven price increases. Fiscal third-quarter sales climbed 10 % to $94 billion, handily beating analysts’ projections, with iPhone revenue jumping 13.5 % to $44.6 billion. The company forecast that revenue for the current quarter ending in September will expand in the mid- to high-single digits, again surpassing Wall Street estimates. While the rush to purchase devices provided a short-term lift, tariffs are also squeezing margins. Apple said duties raised costs by about $800 million in the June quarter and will add roughly $1.1 billion in the September period if trade policy remains unchanged. Chief Executive Officer Tim Cook acknowledged the surge in pre-tariff buying and warned that the benefit may prove temporary. Cook told analysts Apple is “significantly” increasing its investment in artificial intelligence and remains open to acquisitions that could accelerate its roadmap. The company has already bought several small firms this year and plans to expand capital spending further as it works on an upgraded Siri and other AI-enabled features. Tariff pressures are reverberating beyond the technology sector. Ford Motor Co. said higher duties will shave about $2 billion from this year’s operating profit—up from the $1.5 billion hit it predicted three months ago—forcing the automaker to lower its 2025 operating-income target to $6.5 billion-$7.5 billion. The warnings from Apple and Ford underscore the widening financial impact of Washington’s 145 % levy on goods from China.
