On July 18, 2024, the index continued its upward trajectory, reaching 16.12 points, a nearly 30% rise since the start of July. This surge coincides with a significant drop in the S&P 500, which fell over 60 points in under an hour, reaching its lowest level since July 5, 2024. The VIX's daily RSI also hit its highest reading in over 2.5 years, indicating heightened market anxiety. The VIX reached its highest level since April 2024, surpassing levels seen in early June and May 30th.
