The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) has taken multiple actions against mortgage servicers and lenders. The CFPB has filed a $3.95 million proposed order to settle a Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA) lawsuit against a Florida-based mortgage company. Additionally, the CFPB is cracking down on mortgage servicers for harmful practices against older homeowners. The bureau is also taking action against owners of a small dollar lender for hiding money to avoid penalties. Furthermore, the CFPB has issued a final rule requiring certain nonbanks to report final public orders and submit annual compliance reports. The Payday Lending Rule is slated to take effect, 7 years later.
