The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) has taken multiple enforcement actions against various entities. The CFPB filed an order to resolve its lawsuit against James R. Carnes and Melissa C. Carnes for fraudulent transfers to avoid paying restitution and penalties. Additionally, the CFPB ordered Sutherland Global, its subsidiaries Sutherland Government Solutions and Sutherland Mortgage Services, and NOVAD Management Consulting to cease illegal activities that harmed older homeowners, and fined and barred them from future reverse mortgage activities. Furthermore, the CFPB proposed a $3.95 million fine against Freedom Mortgage Corporation for submitting error-riddled mortgage loan data to federal regulators and violating a 2019 consent order.
