David Motovich, Brooklyn business owner of Midwood Lumber on Coney Island Ave, has been convicted of operating an unlicensed money transmitting business, bank fraud, and money laundering. The conviction follows an investigation by the United States Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of New York, the IRS, and the FBI. Motovich was found guilty of running a massive illegal check-cashing operation and failing to file Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs).
