House Democrats on the House Natural Resources Committee have launched an investigation into potential market manipulation and collusion by eight Big Oil companies. The probe, initiated by Committee Democrats, aims to uncover whether these companies have been exploiting public lands and waters for profit while colluding with oil cartels to artificially inflate gas prices. Representative Mike Levin and other Democratic colleagues have written to the U.S. Department of the Interior, demanding accountability for these actions. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has uncovered texts from a former CEO of a major oil company, suggesting attempts to collude with OPEC to rig oil prices. Representative Susie Lee has also called for an investigation into the alleged collusion, emphasizing the need to crack down on harmful price gouging. The letter was sent on Tuesday.
Big food corporations are charging you more for your groceries so their CEOs can get richer. This price gouging is unacceptable – and I’m supporting the Price Gouging Prevention Act to ban this unfair practice & lower food costs for hardworking American families. https://t.co/M8jiK9CLh3

In May, I demanded that @NatResources leadership investigate Big Oil’s alleged collusion with foreign cartels to keep production down & your gas prices up. Now, I’m going directly to @Interior to hold these corporations accountable & crack down on harmful price gouging. https://t.co/j3MYLdmkBb
