The Alameda County District Attorney’s office has charged Radius Recycling (Schnitzer Steel) and two company leaders with 10 felony counts for environmental crimes related to a fire last August at the West Oakland steel recycling facility. The fire at the large scrap metal processing plant near the Port of Oakland blanketed parts of the east bay with toxic smoke.
