Democratic lawmakers, including Senator Warren and Representative McGovern, are urging President Biden to use his executive authority to lower food prices by targeting grocery chains and food conglomerates. They argue that corporate profits have surged, contributing to inflation and harming American families.
Warren urges Biden to target grocery chains over high prices. But there’s debate over how much chains are to blame. https://t.co/FG2zQ36fH3
I’m joining @SenWarren to put billionaire food companies and grocery giants on notice. Stop price-gouging the American people at the supermarket while raking in record profits. Your time of greed is coming to an end! https://t.co/Jh1jCbjIFQ
Corporate profits rose 5x faster than inflation from 2020 to 2022 and drove over half of inflation for most of 2023. We need to fight back against big corporations’ price gouging and deceptive tactics, so we can lower costs for American families. I’m in that fight all the way.
