StoneCo Misses, dLocal Beats Revenue Forecasts; Shares Fall Up to 15%

StoneCo and dLocal, two prominent fintech firms, have recently released their quarterly earnings, showcasing varied performance outcomes. StoneCo was expected to report $685.73M in revenue, a 33.32% year-over-year increase, and $0.30 in EPS, marking a 114.29% increase. However, it reported a revenue of $655.87M, a 27.51% year-over-year increase but missed expectations by $27.76M. Its EPS of $0.36 exceeded forecasts by $0.06, representing a 157.14% increase from the previous year. On the other hand, dLocal announced a revenue of $188.01M, a 58.75% increase year-over-year, surpassing expectations by $14.32M, but its EPS of $0.10, a 66.67% increase year-over-year, missed estimates by $0.05. Following these announcements, StoneCo's shares dropped 15% after hours to $14.6, while dLocal's shares fell 12.7% pre-market and further 8% in pre-market trading. dLocal's performance was particularly noted for its worst performance since May 2023, attributed to missed earnings forecasts and concerns over increased spending impacting margins.
