Tata Power plans to invest Rs 25,000 crore in capital expenditure for FY26 and aims to bid for two electricity distribution companies (discoms) in Uttar Pradesh, according to CEO Praveer Sinha. Defence sector stocks such as Cochin Shipyard, Bharat Electronics Ltd (BEL), and Mazagon Dock have seen rallies, with Cochin Shipyard's shares rising 13.54% in one session, though analysts have cautioned about potential valuation corrections. The broader market saw gains with the Nifty index hitting a six-month high, led by Hero MotoCorp and JSW Steel. Hero MotoCorp's shares rose on strong Q4 performance and positive rural demand outlook. Other companies like Godfrey Phillips India reported a 30.73% increase in consolidated net profit to Rs 293.96 crore for Q4, while PB Fintech and IOL Chemicals also posted profit gains. The auto sector index surged 25% from April lows, with Tata Motors and Hero MotoCorp shares advancing over 4%.
