A 60-year-old Utah man has been sentenced to 29 months in federal prison after defrauding approximately 300 investors out of $10 million through his smartphone company. From 2006 to 2020, the man deceived investors by claiming his smartphones were on the brink of a multi-billion-dollar payout. The sentencing was part of a broader crackdown on fraud, which also saw the former CEO of a North Texas tech company heading to federal prison for defrauding investors while attempting to purchase two professional soccer clubs in England.
