In a tense, hours-long meeting on Monday night, the Harford County School Board heard from dozens of community members concerned about their decision to reject adding an Advanced Placement African American studies class to the district's curriculum. Under public pressure, the board reversed its controversial decision and will now make the AP African American Studies elective available to high school students. The unanimous vote comes three weeks after some board members initially balked at elements of the Advanced Placement course.
