OpenAI is piloting a new “Study Together” mode for ChatGPT that shifts the chatbot from an answer-giving tool to an interactive tutor. Instead of providing solutions outright, the feature prompts users with guiding questions and walks through problems step by step, encouraging learners to supply their own responses before the system advances. The experimental mode began appearing for some users from 8 July and is being described by early testers as a move toward more personalised learning. While OpenAI has not detailed a rollout timetable, the company appears to be gathering feedback on how the conversational framework can support deeper understanding rather than quick answers.
